I was wondering how many people think about the meaning of life or try to figure the greater purpose of life. I don’t really hear a lot about the topic like I did in the past. I started to wonder about it and what a lot of people might believe. I realized there’s a difference between the meaning of life and the purpose of life. Something I never thought about before.
Is there a meaning to life?
I believe the meaning of life is to comprehend love. Not only gain the capacity of loving someone else, but to allow yourself to be loved also. Which is much harder to do by the way. How many people do you know that will do so much for you but have a hard time accepting favors, help, or anything of the sort? Something I’m totally guilty of by the way. It can easy to see the struggle of love is not always about sharing it but embracing it also. The meaning of life completely revolves around love. Not only finding a love hidden inside, that other’s draw out of you, but to enjoy a love that comes toward you also. Both of these are elements that I believe lead up to the real love experience, to experience the love of God. When you begin to understand God’s love He has for you, it will really challenge you on the way you see your whole reality. God’s love and grace are unnatural and almost difficult to accept.
The purpose of life
What’s my purpose? What does it all mean man!? It seems this is the more popular of the two. I recall many believers I’ve known who also struggled with the question: “What does God want me to do?” One thing I would suggest is…maybe nothing! At least for now anyway. The purpose of life, and the whole point of all this is to discover who you are by gaining understanding. Understanding of so many facets of life which are only reflections of His design. Gaining a deeper and deeper understanding of art will unveil a deeper mystery of the artist. You learn things about yourself and others around you when you begin to understand who and what God REALLY is, based on the way He created things to be. Almost every single subject in this world has an infinite aspect to it. Whether you look under a microscope and ever reach the bottom, or you discover an endless combination of elements that leave you only questioning more. Which is a wonderful thing. The purpose of life is hidden along the journey toward discovery, hardly the discovery itself. Our society seems to ignore this in a big way which complicates our own ability to just be human.
The real problem
The sad part about all this usually shows up when somebody wants to learn more about a certain subject. Sometimes when they do, people on the other side start playing shame games. Trying to get others to believe a certain way. Preventing them from gaining understanding and discovering more about themselves. That’s one of the worst things in life. When you judge someone before they’ve had a chance to prove themselves or find themselves. To pre-judge somesom is actually prejudice. So I guess you could say I hate prejudice. Remember, prejudice revolves around fear. When a person is afraid of being wrong they’ll become tempted to make a target out of those who think different. That makes it easier to avoid risking that awkward feeling of having to change. If you can demonize your opponent, it doesn’t really matter what they believe. Just cut them off before the start, that’s the name of the game. I’m not trying to point anyone out in particular because we’re all guilty of this is some way or another. It’s in our nature to struggle with those emotions. I just bring it up because itsit something we need to watch out for, you don’t want to get stuck by locking yourself into an unhealthy outlook. Many people also get stuck by doing this to themselves. You could be throwing guilt all over your own life and shaming yourself for not knowing enough. Beating yourself up for falling short. Understand that every time you start to believe in yourself you will face resistance. The question is, will you allow that voice of intimidation influence your decisions? Could you imagine living a life where you were no longer influenced by voices of uncertainty and descent?
Knowledge flip-flop
If you’re obsessed with being right all the time you may never make it to where you’re trying to go. You may be holding yourself back until you know you won’t fail. But we have to give ourselves the grace to fall down so we can build the muscles we need to get back up. It’s not always about knowing the answers, no one can know all the answers. It’s about learning the right questions. The right questions unveil the correct answers, and sometimes they’re always changing. It’s a journey. One that no one wants to really go on. So it takes someone who can be humble enough to climb aboard. Someone who can look in the mirror and admit they are wrong. You’ll never see the purpose or the point. God has kept the answers private, only be revealed to those who can see beyond themselves. To the humble. Believing is not about strength, it’s about weakness. Boldness to fail with a smile!
