My Art Journey Part 2 – Rethinking Sacred Geometry By Unlocking The Flower Of Life

Welcome to the second part of my art journey. Last week I shared how my brother and I got into some trouble at school and I decided to live in a small town in west Texas with my dad. Way out in the middle of nowhere, in a town called Seminole where I transferred for the remaining time of that school year and finished everything out there. I was in alternative school and decided to take a break from living in the city and get away from all the influences that had gotten me trouble to begin with. It was my opportunity to have a big reset, to do some studying, reading, learning, growing and changing. So when I got there, it was just my dad and I living together in a place that was much different. So if you missed it and want to check out that story, click the link here to get caught up. Today I’ll talk about what happened while I was there. It was during this time that my whole mindset on how I see my art, and my life, changed forever.

Walking Into A New Environment

Well the first thing I remember was being in a room with only about 15 students. I remember the room had desks that were all facing the wall, each separated by dividers. I remember the days were longer for some reason. School got out around 3:50 for some reason, but it was alternative school, and there was no talking or anything. All day sitting in the same place, doing in your work between dividers so you couldn’t see the other kids.  I remember getting to play games like Dominoes and Connect Four on our lunch breaks, which was pretty cool. But for the rest of the time, it was pretty isolating.

However, one of the positives is the dividers allowed me to do a lot of drawing. I began to study Leonardo, which taught me how to draw faces much better. I began diving into these certain feelings that I had, I guess you’d call it a vision. A vision of a hard to explain thought that I had. This one in particular was a very abstract shape I could see twirling in my mind that sort of looked like an animated flower, or gyrating symbol. When I closed my eyes, meditate and pray, I could sense that it was like energy that was twirling and braiding itself on top of itself, over and over again. I began to think how I wanted to draw that. So I had the time to spend working on that, which eventually turned out really well. Now after all this time, all these years later, I see that there’s a lot of people who are really into this type of symbol I was working on.  They call it sacred geometry.

Finding Sacred Geometry Before I Even Knew What It Was

Sacred geometry is usually created by using many circles which come together in an overlapping grid. It’s actually very deep and meaningful, you can watch some YouTube videos on sacred geometry and find out more if you’d like. It’s pretty fascinating as it gets down to the essence of creation, or the essence of God creating the universe. What’s interesting is a lot of what I was getting into this year in alternative school was exactly that,, but from a more biblical world view. The symbol I’m referring to that looks so similar to mine is what many people call the ‘Flower of Life.’

A quick simplified example of Sacred Geometry

How And Why I Began Creating This

There was this feeling that I had, and this idea that I kept playing around with, which was almost like grabbing a wet noodle. It was really difficult to draw what I was feeling in my spirit. But I eventually did and I haven’t really shared this very much, because to me this is a very special symbol to me. Like I said, I didn’t know what sacred art, or sacred geometry was until just recently in last few years.  This drawing I’m sharing was made long before I knew, or even heard of sacred art.

I started with this symbol. I would play around with this until realizing the way I wanted to make it was to erase many of the lines around it, simplifying it in a major way.  Again, I was trying to find a symbol based on this feeling I had, this weaving of energy that’s so hard to explain.  But I wanted to draw it, so this is what I came up with. To put these circles around it like this.

An example of the symbol I was creating to remake Sacred Geometry before I even knew what it was.

Eventually, I felt that it needed more than this, something seemed missing. So I added the logo I had previously been working on, right here in the center. This is The Everything triangle, which is symbolic to everything in the universe made in 3’s. For example, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and even the enemy as well has 3 parts. There is also situation, a person’s choice, and their outcome. There is man, woman, and God. There’s past, present, and future. As well as length, width, and depth. There’s the proton, neutron, and electron. And so on…

A New Symbol, Something Sacred

So this right here is the symbol I came up with. Which are made by three triangular shapes that come together in the center. These triangular shapes are basically heads, which represent The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

So when I see this symbol I actually feel like it represents the essence of life, and that’s what it is in sacred geometry as well. Which is really why I find it fascinating that the Lord led me to this. Now after many years, and learning much more about artwork, I realize it’s prophetic. it’s a prophetic piece of art. A prophetic design design actually. It’s a work of art that I find to be very special. When I see it, I become full with a sense of gratitude that God led me to this.

Getting Deeper, Breaking Apart The Math and Finding Harmony

After I created this, I started to realize that is symbolic of so many things in creation. I started to break apart the math behind it and wonder if these heads all turned at the exact same time, would they overlap? Or would they stay connected without crossing over each other? And the answer is they do. You can see in this animation, when they all turn together, they do not cross at all, it’s awesome.

Animating the Sacred Trinity to share how all 3 points work in harmony

So when I see this symbol, I think of the Spirit of God, because that’s what it means to me. It means the essence of life and the essence of all creation. It’s almost like looking at an atom, which is the foundation of all physical properties. It’s interesting that an atom actually does reflect these elements, especially when you take into account the spinning motion. Also there is actually a record in the book of Ezekiel, a vision he saw of these gyrating wheels when he saw a vision of God, or an angel of God. (Ezekiel 1:15-21) The way he described these gyrating wheels it’s like exactly what this is, it’s really fascinating. Well, ALMOST EXACTLY!

Further Explanation

One more thing I almost forgot: It’s not so much that the lines, shapes, and shadows that make up this symbol, but all this negative space around the symbol that is an important part of it as well. It’s meant to draw in your attention, pulling your eyes toward the center, sucking in everything around it.

This sort of brings up the part about “Sacred Geometry” I don’t like, which is the fact that they close off all these points around the outside. Making it where your eyes is kind of trapped, and you don’t really get the FLOW of creation quite the same. It’s a little too busy. I’m not saying it isn’t beautiful, I’m just saying for me, I believe this symbol is a more accurate representation of basically the heart, essence, and center of life itself. The Spirit of the Lord.

So I just want to share this because maybe it will help encourage you guys. Maybe it will give you something to think about, a fresh perspective on life maybe? I know it did for me. When I went to west Texas I was struggling big time with rage, anger, and I just wanted something meaningful in my life. I was demanding that God give me meaning, I was so mad at the world. I realize that life would always have issues, always have problems, and it robbed me of my hope to a point where I couldn’t move forward. So I was really searching for something with more depth of life, something meaningful and significant. And so this inspires me that God is there, and He’s watching us. That everything has a design, you know, the design of God is what speaks to the hope that we have. It’s through design that helps us know that all this is intentional, because there is no such thing as design without intention. Things don’t just randomly create amazing designs, that just doesn’t happen. So this to me is a very Christian symbol. I know the cross is a very important symbol. It’s because of the cross being paid, which symbolizes the doorway. I believe that there’s things behind the doorway that we also need to be thankful for.

If this blesses you or has encouraged you, please let me know, I would also like to hear your thoughts on all this in the comments section below.

Thanks,
-Dylan

Wow, Dylan. Reading your story helps me in so many way. First, I have been blown away on your transition from the angry youth I knew to the loving, christian person, husband and father you are today. Mike and I have both commented on this many times. Thank you for sharing this story. It gives me hope and a direction that I, too, can hopefully learn and grow.
