For even in a storm we see, there is no reason to be afraid when we just completely give it all away. When it becomes smoother than oil the troubles of life just slip right by. The enemy’s tricks won’t stick when you know the circumstance is a lie.

When you are not afraid to loose the things that are most precious to you, is there a way you can be teased, worried, or even blackmailed? If the enemy knows you really aren’t moved by fear, or the fear of loss, then what benefit does he get in trying to bother someone who isn’t going to give him what he wants? He’ll know you’ll just waste what little time he has left. Fear is a powerful thing, it can move people to do something they normally wouldn’t. But if you know that the circumstances are always changing and that nothing is what it seems, you’ll see that the enemy is just lying to you about what’s really going on. He doesn’t want you to see the goodness that is still alive in the storms of life.
The more thankful we are, even in the hard times, the more irritating it is for him. The enemy has no real power other than what we consent to give them. Being thankful strips the devil of whatever power he thinks he has left, and gives it all back to Jesus. Just like trying to put a piece of tape over an oily surface, the lies won’t stick if you are too focused on the Truth.
