Think of the most technical person you know. The most left-brain logical-minded intellectual straight-face articulate technical person in your life.  Maybe this person is a scientist, maybe a high school geography teacher, or maybe he is a computer analyst. Without even knowing it every one of them rely on creativity, even their careers depend on it.

And what about you? Do you have a technical job? Are you more left-brained than right-brained? Maybe one of those people who say “I could never be an artist, I don’t have a creative bone in my body,” well my friend you are dead wrong.

The most technical person I can think of is a mathematician. I see him writng on a big green chalkboard many different equations and complex formulas. How in the world would this guy need creativity to get by? Well I guess he really doesn’t NEED to if he’s okay with completely being alone, never scoring a date, or making the girl laugh, or be the least bit charismatic. I’m sure it would be important to be able to inspire his students to adheare to higher ideals of knowledge, being able to grasp the emotions of others to transmit his perspective to theirs. Creativity is not just for goofy artists like myself but it is part of our fabric and I feel as though our culture, especially in many religious circles, have allowed that aspect of our lives to drift further away than it ever should. Are we also not made in the image of God AKA The Creator? What a boring and dry melancholy life it would be without music, art, romance, and emotional connections. Say goodbye to roller coasters, say goodbye to that great joke you heard, say goodbye to exotic food, and the awesome drum beat you listened to last. Yes much of what we do is to rely on creativity and it’s so infinitely intertwined that we hardly notice it, especially if you’re very left-brained.  We need creativity two inspire one another, and to connect with one another, to come up with new ideas and new jokes. We need creativity to make our job easier, to be faster. We create new ideas every single day in the smallest of ways to benefit in every possible measure we can, even if you are a master mathematician writing your theory, sharing your gift on an old green chalkboard.
