The Lord gave me the strength I needed to get through so much, while the book I wrote shares a point-of-view that helps me stay inspired. Through an outlook that’s focused on seeing life through the eyes of eternity and looking at everything through the eyes of truth. Especially if that thing is your creative inspiration. This type of out-of-the-box thinking helped me turn around my negative outlook on life and see the beauty in what God has made. This idea continued to stir my desire to keep making art all the while growing my passion for truth. I wonder how many of you struggle with staying centered in you own walk. Would you be interested in an artistic point-of-view if it helped you stay centered, helped you feel the fire and stay inspired?
Few years after I got married I began to get serious about making this a book that could possibly be published. My original idea was to make something that looked ancient. A mysterious book that seemed like it washed up on the shore, something old and dated. Filled with enough artwork to illustrate every page to match the words that go with it.
Up to this point, the only kind of writing I ever pursued was making lyrics and writing song ideas. As I began writing this book so much of what I came up with began to rhyme. At first I thought that was sort of interesting and thought nothing of it. But after thinking about it I decided to challenge myself to make the whole book that way. After I finished, it was an amazing body of text, the most challenging work of art I have made. But it seemed to lack the type of clarity that it needed to help someone the way it helps me. I wondered if it was too artistic. I took some time to reflect and continue making more artwork. After a few years I decided to clear up the issues by re-framing the overall problems it solves. I challenged myself to hone in on the issues this book really solves and discovered that it goes over 10 different principles related to the Christian walk. 10 things centered around finding your flow and walking in that absolute certainty we all try to focus on everyday.
What I like about this book is that it’s unique. Definitely a little different than most nonfiction self-help material. It is poetic and very artistic. It causes you to think deep and challenges you to reconsider a lot of things in your spiritual walk. It’s also a book that will remain relevant over the next few generations. My goal was to make something timeless, something that could help someone many years from now as much as it can today.
So this is why I’ve started blogging. It’s been a fun experience so far, considering I’ve never thought of myself as the blogger type. But this pursuit has been able to bring back old memories and provide a little more clarity when it comes to communication. I hope that you subscribe to the following weeks ahead as I begin sharing the work one part at a time. Talk to you soon.
