“There is a way that seems right to a man” (Proverbs 16:25) but the end is not what it seems. And when the drama of life pushes you to the edge, what are you telling yourself as motivation to come back around? As the test of time catches up to this charade we play, dancing around the excuses we say, defending our pride.  Until we’ve aged beyond our number of days, only to live within a life of lies on our way to the grave.

But in a careless peace we are anxious for nothing as it burns the devil alive. And in an accepted defeat, he never tries. Who is willing to take the dare, of turning away from everything that held you back or caused you to care?  As we learn to see beyond ourselves and the things we crave, in a slow emotion and a patient wave. Step outside yourself, don’t be afraid. “For his secret is with the righteous,” (Proverbs 3:32) and in a perfect patience, we see the way.

At times we find ourselves put to the test, placed under pressure, and being pushed around from almost every side of life. The only way to make it through a day like that is to remind yourself of all the lessons you’ve learned and find the encouragement hiding within all the experience you’ve gained. But in times as these, the possibility of feeding on a toxic set of ideas starts to increase. Ideas that only drive the nails of negativity deeper into our hearts. Only to look up one day and realize we have allowed ourselves to slowly drift further away from who we would like to be. We catch ourselves defending ideas that are only based on the fear of getting hurt. Revolving decisions around what we are trying to avoid rather than what we would like to achieve.  Focusing too much of our strength around the stress of avoiding pain rather than the pleasure of living life.

This type of stress may seem completely unavoidable most of the time but we were never meant to live this way. The son of God came to take all the shame and punishment that was intended for us to have. He took the bullet so you could live a life of peace. The idea of living a life full of anxiety really is a slap in His face. But the best way to turn it all around is to just continue to LET GO. This of course is the last thing the devil would want you to do. He’s going to try to put every distraction in the world in front of you in an attempt to keep you too busy to take a breath and find a little enjoyment. But why not take a chance on going against your own logic for a little bit? Why not take a breath and just say no, and see what happens? You may be surprised to find that the more you let go, the less there is to bring you down.

The last thing the enemy wants is to waste his time trying to stress somebody out who just doesn’t care about those silly details. The shame then gets put back on him, as he has egg on his face from his inability to get your attention. Even in the worst of situations, there is always something good. Always something we can point out that causes us to be thankful. The best way to fight back the enemy is to show how insignificant he really is by being thankful in any situation. It really burns him up to see someone who has every reason to feel defeated being excited about living life again. He may even conveniently forget to keep coming around.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
